here are some frustrating things from my classes from the past few days.
1) Yesterday I was very proud of myself because after I went to my U.S. history class in the morning I actually managed to show up at my Russian history class in the afternoon. I was feeling all good and self-righteous when I learned that in class we were going to be watching a movie. First I thought "great, I hate movie days. They generally don't count for anything and are a waste of time." THEN I learned that the movie wasn't a normal movie, it was a 1927 silent movie about the Russian revolution of 1917. I don't think I had ever seen a silent film before and the way really old film looks scares me because I am a pussy. Well I had NO IDEA what was going on in the movie. It was also by some artsy director who really like to do this crazy flash montages where like dolls and soldiers were being paired next to each other in one second increments. Everyone around me would snicker at times, and I would just sit there wanting so badly to run out of the room. To make matters worse, everyone in the movie had really really disgusting teeth and the room smelled like poop and old people. Here is a screen shot of Lenin yelling about some shit.

2) This morning in my art history of de stijl and bauhaus we were talking about this sculptor. My teacher (who has a slight accent) said his name (which I had never heard or seen before) and I wrote it down as Fontomoleau. I figured I was incorrect because I am a very bad speller and I almost always guess letter (especially vowels) wrong. Anyway, there I was writing down things down about how Fontomoleau wants to find cosmic balance and he does so by using spheres and radiating points and a lot of other very philosophical things I DID NOT UNDERSTAND when I saw his name written down. V-A-N-T-A-N-G-E-R-L-O-O. That means that out of 12 letters, I had gotten 3 correct. I furiously scratched out all the Fonotomoleaus I had written in case a classmate saw them and thought I was an idiot.
Here is a picture of a comparison my teacher made between a classical Greek sculpture and one of Vantangerloo's works. Can't you see the similarities?
